This is an incredible interview

I saw Jeff (and Matt) play in a small club in Belfast the day after Grace was released - interesting to hear him say he was struggling a bit with homesickness on tour. I do remember even though he played great that night he seemed out of sorts & left the stage early (Jeff may have said he had flu or something). Jeff played on though, just him & his guitar and was joined by Glen Hansard on stage. A memorable gig... Great album... Great drummer...!

100% my fav female drummer. Shes a little badass. Her riffs are pretty damn insane. Her gesticulations to keep timing and her place in the grand shape of the musical piece are indicative of a musical genius. In laymans terms she moves like that to remember how and what and when to do certain riffs. And the fact she feels the music so much to move like that means shes completely present and giving everything every time.

I have used and loved VATER drumsticks for 25yrs, started with 5A,wood tips.After being in a touring band and needing fresh sticks quite often i began using vater 3A fatback wood ips and occasionally 8A wood tips.There is a specific model Vater makes that are simply gigantic, and dangerous,hah ha-Morgan Rose tree trunk timbale type,indestructable and fearsome,they will last centuries,and paper thin cymbals cringe when they leave stick bags,huge.but 3A vaters are the best.

John has the remarkable gift of avoiding the drama in the bands he's been in - bands that are RENOWNED for the drama being front and center. That's just the kind of guy he is - easygoing, finding the calm in whatever storm he happens to find himself in. Would love to meet him some day. Not going to happen, I'm sure, but if my kid ever were to decide she wanted to take a stab at making music (or any performing art for a living, for that matter), I'd point her at John Cowsill as a good reference point for staying sane in a clearly insane and dysfunctional environment.

These are 7a sticks that play like a VF and Promark 5a stick with a smaller tip..Cheaper, more durable and better balance and are a little longer but they feel solid. Save yourself some money and load up with some 7a Manhattan drumsticks!

Great interview Hayley and you're still a outstanding drummer.

Watching this interview again a few months after seeing it the first time, it is still enjoyable to see. John Cowsill doesn't need drums, he does air drumming beautifully! John would be a great one to just sit down with for a chat. Ask him one question, and let him go! It sounds like you would get a dozen different stories from that one question...he's so fun to listen to! Thanks again the second time for a great interview!

I could listen to his stories all day long . Reminiscing his youth was the best years of my youth too ! He’s so interesting to listen to . Love how the interviewer didn’t interrupt too often .

What a classy, upbeat guy. To go through what he and his brothers and sister went through and come out of it so brilliantly and joyously is nothing short of a miracle. He clearly deserves the happiness that is so obviously filling him.
